Today is my birthday, and I can't believe another year has gone by! 27 was an interesting year of figuring out what I should do with my life. Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer yet. I just know I want to make things, whether it's an app, greeting cards, or necklaces, I want to keep creating. That's all I know for now. Stay tuned!
I got to celebrate my birthday last weekend I had an action-packed weekend with my brothers and friends. My oldest brother, Jeffrey, flew up from Santa Monica to do the Ridiculous Obstacle Course (ROC) Race. On Saturday, we drove down to the Santa Clara Fairgrounds early in the morning to the ROC Race. I had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. I knew there would be some inflatable obstacles which looked like a lot of fun.
There were 12 obstacle courses total. The last 4 obstacles were my favorite. The last 4 involved going done a slide with an inner tube, a foamy slip and slide, walking across an inflatable log, and then sliding down the world's largest inflatable slide. I wished that we were allowed to try each obstacle more than once. It was lots of fun, and I would do it again.
I'm so grateful to have such ridiculous people to do ridiculous obstacle courses with.
The rest of the day I spent running errands to prepare for my birthday party the next day. I wanted Jeffrey to be at my birthday party so I figured I would throw my birthday party a week early. I enjoy planning parties. Last year I did a garden party for my birthday. This year I decided to throw a snow cone party at Golden Gate Park near the Conservatory of Flowers!
I rented a snow cone machine from SF Party. I decided that I wanted to make my own fresh syrups. So I made a variety of syrups that included: watermelon mint lime, pineapple coconut, raspberry, blackberry, rose water, Pimm's cup, ginger, and lavender. I also had coconut milk and condensed milk to top things off.
The syrups were simple to make. I just blended up fresh fruit, added some sugar and boiled it in a pot. I was really happy with how everything turned out. My favorite combination was the rose water with coconut milk and some condensed milk. It was fun to mix and match the syrups and everyone could come up with their own creations.
I kept the party decorations simple. I made a snow cone garland using this tutorial. I had an inflatable T-Rex, just cause I had one lying around our apartment and thought that it would be fun. I tried to match what decorations I had to my dress, mainly just the garland and the paper straws. I didn't know what snow cone cups to buy, and the ones I got were a lot smaller than I anticipated. They worked out though. I think that was good for trying different flavor combinations.
I was so happy that my friends and family could come out and celebrate life with me on a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco. Thanks for those that came out to celebrate. Hope everyone had fun!
I ended the day with a delicious birthday dinner with my brothers and Grant at Suppenkuche. Our fun festivities were not quite over though. We still had a Jason Mraz concert to attend the next day! My brothers and I love Jason Mraz, so I bought tickets for us to go see him in concert with Raining Jane at Davies Symphony. Here are some sibling selfies before the show. I love my brothers.
Jason Mraz and the gang put on an amazing performance. I love seeing Jason Mraz live, and I think this has been my favorite concert of his so far.
Also, if you haven't been to Davies Symphony Hall, you should definitely go! It's such a beautiful venue and there's a great view of City Hall.
I had so much fun with brothers and friends. I'm so grateful to have them all of them in my life. I love you guys, and can't wait to see what 28 holds. XOXO
